Handicapping System
In order to make this a friendly and competitive event as well as to protect golfers who play in our tournaments, we will be moving towards only accepting official handicaps for our tournaments:
Official
$49.99/year through Carolinas Golf Association
For any golfers who would like to obtain an official handicap through the USGA prior to playing in our events, please contact us
Handicapping Callouts
During event registration, you will be asked to list your handicap index via the registration form
Handicaps will be required the Wednesday prior to our events and will be updated at that time to the most recent index. If you do not provide a handicap by then or you do not have one, you will be entered in as scratch (0.0 index)
Handicaps will be reviewed throughout the season to identify any scoring inconsistencies. Should you routinely shoot under your handicap, a “Tour Index” will be assigned.
Tour Index
Handicaps will be reviewed throughout the season to identify any scoring inconsistencies. Should you routinely shoot under your handicap, a “Tour Index” will be assigned.
“Career Rounds” will be defined as a round that is outside of your normal handicap.
We understand every golfer can have a “career round” and will give the golfer the benefit of the doubt should they be leading our events. To protect the field, we will validate your handicap and check that you have been posting scores routinely prior to the event. If anything is out of the ordinary, we will address with you and you may be issued a “Tour Index”
Weighting Handicaps
Handicaps will be weighted utilizing the table below to determine your playing handicap prior to our tournaments. Handicaps will then be adjusted accordingly with the course handicap.
HCP Index vs % of Handicap Used
+0.0 - 5.0 = 100 % Handicap Used
5.1 - 10.0 = 95 % Handicap Used
10.1 - 15.0 = 90% Handicap Used
15.1 - 20.0 = 85% Handicap Used
20.1 - 54.0 = 80% Handicap Used
